Myles Gorham

Myles Gorham lives in Brooklyn, New York. While his primary focus is jazz, he has played gigs in many genres from Blues to Swing to Hip-Hop to musical theater. Originally from the Kansas City area, he moved to NYC in 2005 and attended the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music on partial scholarship where he played in many ensembles and was instructed by Reggie Workman, Charles Tolliver, Joe Chambers, Cecil Bridgewater, Doug Weiss, Satoshi Inoue, Jimmy Owens, Richard Boukas, Ed MacEachen, Rachel Z, and others. During this time he also studied privately with Peter Bernstein, Jonathan Kreisberg, Steve Cardenas, and Ed MacEachen.
In early 2008 Myles returned returned home to Kansas City where he worked steadily in a number of different settings playing 150-plus gigs a year. During this time he opened for several national acts, played numerous festivals, and played shows all over the mid-west (Omaha, St. Louis, Des Moines, etc.) In May of 2010, Myles returned to NYC.
Myles plays throughout NYC including a steady weekly gig at the world famous Smoke Jazz Club (Tuesday nights at 11:45pm following the Mike Ledonne Quartet) where he has played to audiences that have included Lou Donaldson, George Coleman, Joey Defrancesco, and others.
